I’m holding off on upgrading to iPhone 4S, and since the original Siri Assistant app is no more, I’ve been lacking some smartness in my app life. TouchBase Calendar: 1-Touch SMS, Calling & Maps for your Calendar won’t set my alarm for me like Siri will, but the app’s intuitive features can get my appointment book in order — and I’ll take what I can get.
TouchBase Calendar supports iPhone and iPod Touch and all iPhone-friendly calendars, including Exchange, Google, Outlook and Entourage. Now, I’m simply not that busy, so I was only able to take TouchBase through its paces using events in the native iPhone calendar app, but I was impressed with my experience.
TouchBase syncs with your existing calendar, and uses your provided information to enhance your appointment setting experience. If you’re having lunch with Nick at Five Guys, TouchBase will comb your contacts to find Nick. If he’s there, TouchBase’s one-touch buttons will give you quick access to call him, or text or email. You can write your own message, or you can use the prewritten options to say “I’m early” or “I’m running late by” five, 10 or 20 minutes. If it’s an upcoming event — you can swipe through your calendar — you can send a confirmation message to invited guests to ensure your meeting is still on.
To get the most out of TouchBase, I’ll have to start being more specific in my calendar entries — you can see full details from your notes, and if you include the address of your meeting or event, you’ll be able to snag directions in-app. I love that TouchBase offers two-way sync. If you make a change to an event within TouchBase, your iPhone calendar will update as well.
TouchBase Calendar is currently on sale, and I think its intuition is more than worth a buck, especially for people who are constantly on the go with many appointments to manage.
