This week’s Top Five iPhone games include New Sims, the iPhone’s first full hockey game

You’ve probably heard about that iPad thingy that was recently released, but try not to let that distract you from this week’s iPhone games.Big developers such as EA, Gameloft and THQ all introduced games this week that shouldn’t be overshadowed by anything, no matter how new and shiny it is.

Among this week’s offerings are an international spin on The Sims, a fishing simulator iPhone game that’s a great catch, as well as a new game that is sure to score with hockey fans, especially with the NHL playoffs just around the corner.

1. The Sims 3 World Adventures

I’m not sure how much help I can be on this one, as just about everything you need to know about EA’s  (99 cents) is one of the more interesting games you will see in the iTunes App Store. This VGViews game allows you to create your own shooter – you take pictures of drawings, or anything really, and use them as enemies or backgrounds in the game. There are two create modes — simple and advanced — and in addition to giving you the ability to design elements of the game, you can set things such as enemy hit points, speed and size, among others. If this sounds daunting or like too much work, the game has a few pre-made levels and a social feature that lets you download/upload custom levels via Facebook. Like Hockey Nations, I can think of some improvements that could be made to Sketch Nation Shooter (most notably offering longer levels), but even as it stands, I love the idea behind the game and the execution of it – and chances are you will as well.
