There’s no better time than steak time, as long as you have Omaha Steaks Steak Time app

The Omaha Steaks Steak Time app is a fantastic combination of recipes, meat timer and grocery-list maker that could have even novice chefs cooking up delicious steaks with minimal effort. The culinary app manages not to baby long-time cooks who are simply looking for new recipes, while also offering options for less-experienced chefs who need their hand held a bit while in the kitchen.

Those with less kitchen experience would be advised to first check out the app’s “Steak 101” section, which contains dozens of how-to videos. From videos on steak prep, knowing your cuts of meat and the tools of the trade, to timer charts to make sure your steak cooks exactly the way you like it, you don’t have to know a lot about steaks to use this app.

If you have experience cooking a steak, the Omaha Steaks Steak Time recipe section will be more up your alley. The section is divided by the type of cut you’re working with, although you can also just do a keyword search to find a recipe you like. For a free app, there are an awful lot of recipes to choose from. They’re not run-of-the-mill recipes, either.

The recipe section has detailed instructions on cooking everything from Asian Beef Salad to Beef Tikka and, of course, more common sirloin recipes. As an added bonus, if you’ve found a recipe you like, you can add all of its ingredients to the in-app grocery list.

Once you’ve settled on a recipe and watched a video steak prep videos, what’s left but the cooking? Luckily, the Omaha Steaks Steak Time app even helps with that. It has a timer that sets itself automatically, based on how you want your steak cooked. There’s even an option to note if your grill runs hot or cold that will further alter the timer. If you’d like to set your own timers, you can override the defaults that the app suggests.

Short of physically cooking the steak for you, there’s not a lot left for the Omaha Steaks Steak Time app to accomplish. This is as complete a cooking app as I’ve run across. As someone who considers himself only an average chef, I found it very easy to understand, but it certainly doesn’t talk down to more-experienced cooks who just want some new recipes. If you’re into cooking steaks, this app should sizzle its way onto your iPhone as soon as possible.
