The Top Content Readers of 2010 on iPad

Flipboard: Your Social News Magazine

I’ve been using Flipboard for a few weeks and it’s one of the most amazing iPad apps out there! Set up your Facebook and Twitter accounts into panels and have an instant online magazine of your accounts that become visually pleasing and very interactive. Pick from a growing list of content providers to create more panels. I created one just for my personal Twitter account @randygiusto and our business account @ipsosvantis and automatically generated online magazines for both. Great stuff!

Flud News

Flud has a nice design, competes with Pulse and Flipboard to some extent. I like it better than Pulse but not as much as Flipboard.

Can’t “mark all as read” in Pulse which gets annoying fast, especially if I’ve seen the article elsewhere (in another reader, in my email, on another device. etc.

Still, well thought out design, eye pleasing, responsive, and a nice app for the home page of your iPad.

Feeddler RSS Reader for iPad and iPhone

Feedler RSS is the quintessential RSS feed aggregator for the iPad. It pulls all my Google reader channels together in one place and reduces the need to download or buy some of the other content apps if you simply subscribe to their RSS feeds and have them congregate here.

PDF Reader Pro Edition

PDF Reader Pro Edition for iPad is a decent PDF reader app. I would have given it a 5 if it had highlighting or markup capabilities.

YourVersion HD

It’s hard being the best in a category. Everyone is trying to out do each other when it comes to news aggregation or social aggregation, or both. Flipboard is by far the best out there. YourVersion HD does a good job for aggregating news. It sake for five interests, then refines them giving you channels for them an then sub channels for news, blogs, videos and more. Like many apps that work with content, here is a lot of story duplication, which is a pet peeve of mine. Otherwise YourVersion HD would have gotten five bars from me. still, it very intriguing to keep around a while.
