“The Lorax” e-book iPhone app a delight for readers of all ages

I liked Dr. Seuss books as a kid. But now that Oceanhouse Media is bringing Dr. Seuss to life on the iPod, iPad and iPhone, I absolutely love the digital e-books! The Dr. Seuss classic “https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/apple-store/id367260225?mt=8″ app_id=”206882” target=”_blank”>“The Lorax” app, which is now available to download for $3.99, a fraction of the price of the hardcopy book.

While the graphics hold true to the original art of the book, the digital version allows for zooming in on the graphics and the addition of background noise to enhance scenes. Whenever I’m having a bad day or need inspiration, I love to pull out “The Lorax” e-book iPhone app and delight in the clever writing and quirky art of the classic tale of greed and environmental upheaval, as well as the new life that the digital world brings to it.

The iPhone app is great for instilling a love for reading in young children, and even focuses on picture/word recognition. Simply tap items on the screen and the word for the item flashes as the narrator speaks the item’s name.

There are three ways to read the e-book: Read it at your own pace by swiping to turn the page, let the narrator read it to you as you swipe to turn the page, or set it for auto-play. The professional narration is spot-on delightful and the auto-play is great for really young children who can’t swipe the screen to turn the page themselves.
