From the Microsoft team that brought you Courier comes a brand new drawing app for the iPad called Paper by FiftyThree.

The simple and elegant drawing app is free to download, with additional tools and utensils available for in-app purchases at $1.99 each. As reported by The Verge, drawing tools are labeled by utility rather than their “conventional names.”

For instance:

Write = ballpoint

Sketch = Pencil

Outline = Marker

Color = Watercolor Paintbrush

Here is an interview with FiftyThree founder George Petschnigg to explain more about the app and the company’s backstory.
