StirFryTV app brings variety show to your iPhone

StirFryTV is a free app that probably has every YouTuber wishing they had an app, too. There are apps out there that simply grab content from the web with no other function than that. However, StirFryTV is an exception. I was impressed with it’s functionality and good looks. This app is well-designed.

Although I’m not a big fan of apps that simply pick up content from the web, this app is laid out well, and does what it says it does. The tableview rows are large, which gives the viewer a good idea of what the video is about. Even though you and I know that thumbnail of the pretty girl in the bikini will never be seen in that video.

With 90 videos and growing, StirFryTV consists of three guys who show other people’s videos. It’s built as a variety entertainment show. Their humor is tongue-in-cheek as they interview other YouTube  “celebrities.” Apparently they are doing pretty well, because they have more than 100,000 subscribers. Their app provides an easy way to browse public content in a mobile condensed view.

Included in the app are tab bar buttons that connect you to their second YouTube channel, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and DailyBooth. The latter is all the same stuff you find on YouTube, but in blog form. In addition, they give you a developer’s blog to keep you up to date on new versions.
