Spend-Budgeting only good for simple budget tracking

The Spend-Budgeting app for the iPhone is a straightforward way of keeping track of your finances while on the go. For 99 cents, it’s a good option for people who aren’t looking for an elaborate accounting system but want a basic way to budget their money. For those of you who want a more in-depth and comprehensive money management system, Spend-Budgeting is not worth downloading.

With the app you can create an unlimited amount of budgets and customize them based on daily, weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly or yearly payments. You can even organize them in custom groups such as “groceries” or “rent.”

The app also lets you schedule automatically recurring budgets each month, or transfer funds from one budget to another. For a visual reference, graphs display spending within the last week, month or year.

The nice thing about the app is its color-coded system that lets you know how much money you have already spent in any given budget cycle. All available balances that are less than 50 percent of your budgeted amount are displayed in orange. Red displays mean you have a 0 or negative balance.

The app does not require Internet access, which is great for people with an iPod Touch or iPhone who are underground or in the air. The app can also export to CSV files in order to edit in Excel or other spreadsheet files.
