ooVoo has been popular on iPhone and Android for a while, allowing people to video-chat with up to 12 different people on a variety of different devices.

Today, the app received a major update which makes it compatible with iPad too, providing up to four simultaneous HD video chat streams to users. With the addition of Facebook video chat, ooVoo will likely see its already 46 million-strong user base increase even further worldwide.

As well as simple video chatting among friends, ooVoo is often used as a collaborative app between remote musicians and other similarly creative people. These sessions or projects are often recorded then uploaded to YouTube or Tumblr. With that in mind, the new ooVoo update also adds free video recording features to make that process far more seamless.

ooVoo is free and ad-supported. With today’s update, it’s likely to keep going from strength to strength. Are you ready for your close-up?
