Shazam apps

Jan 13, 2012

Just the other day I wanted to figure out the name of a song while with my friend Elise. I pulled out Shazam and blew her away with it’s functionality. To me, the basic Shazam app is simply one of the best things about the iPhone. Here’s a few other great apps from Shazam

Shazam – Discover music, artists, videos & lyrics

I really didn’t think Shazam would be so smart or so alternative. But wow, just wow, it really is.

Shazam let’s you figure out what song you’re listening to with just one little app. Easy to use you simply take a sample of the music and it returns it to you in seconds.

Great you say but so what, it’ll probably only find Justin Bieber songs and other such nonsense. Nope, it finds weird stuff too.

To test I tried out Einsturzende Neubauten and Suicide Commando and both were found with ease. Sure, it got Einsturzende wrong the first time but it was the very beginning of the song and like many of their songs, mainly just noise at that point. A quick re-listen and it was on to the correct song.

Maybe you’re not that many places where you’d use this but this will instantly become my favorite clubbing app. Want to know about that obscure industrial electronic song without having to ask the DJ? Shazam!

Shazam Player

If you’re not happy with your iTunes player and want something else to play your tunes this app might be for you. Not only will the app show you streaming lyrics but it will also connect you to YouTube to watch videos and let you find tour dates. Again, Shazam blows us away.

Shazam Encore

If you really don’t want to support the effort to end AIDS in Africa (because….?) then get this, the main ad free version.
