Save the world in Kosmos Spin iPhone game

If Eggo Waffles’ marketing campaigns have taught me anything, it’s that having your breakfast stolen is among the worst crimes a person can endure. Then, I suppose Kosmo Spin, a game where a tiny creature runs around saving the world from an alien who wants to steal its breakfast, makes for one of the most altruistic adventures of all time.

Well all right, it might not live up to that level of hyperbole, but the clever, colorful Kosmo Spin is a very cool app, and worth checking out for fans of games like PlayStation 3’s Little Big Planet.

Although Kosmo Spin doesn’t share Little Big Planet‘s platforming elements, its visual style and sense of humor are recreated down to the inclusion of strange collectibles that fuel the gameplay.

In Little Big Planet, the player collected stickers that could be used to re-build the game world. In Kosmo Spin, players collect “breakfast thingys” as the game refers to them. In Kosmo’s free play mode, players run around a globe trying to grab up the breakfast bits before an alien space craft sucks the food (or the player) into its tractor beam.

The free play is a blast, but for players looking for a bit more structure, there is a more-organized quest mode, where players have to do increasingly difficult tasks like “stay alive for 30 seconds” or “bounce a ball off of your head 10 times in 30 seconds.” It probably goes without saying, but Kosmo Spin doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Interested players would be advised to do the same. Anyone entering this app looking for an intense action adventure game will be greatly disappointed. If, on the other hand, you’re looking to smile, laugh, and grab a game you can pick up and play easily, Kosmo Spin might just be the right game for you.
