Print coupons frustrate me. I never have them in my wallet when I need them, but then I’ll see one in there after I’ve long since left the store. Finding a coupon for a store I shop is a lucky twist of fate that rarely happens to me. The Coupons App solves these problems, and that makes me happy.

Launch the app, and you see a list of currently available coupons for stores in your general location. The list of more than 25 items seemed surprisingly long when I first opened it outside my office. I walked over to Border’s Book across the street and, sure enough, the 40-percent-off-one-item coupon was valid, and could be scanned from my phone screen. That’s a big savings, and the app showed several other deals at places I go. For those who don’t mind sharing personal info, you can customize the list by registering and selecting your gender, income and birthday.

With the free version of the app, you see the relevant coupons, and can search with text and by voice. Subscribers to the service get the ability to navigate to stores with coupons, save coupons to their phone’s calendar, and organize them, and share them with friends and family. A subscription costs either $20 for the lifetime of your phone, $9.95 for a year or 99 cents per month.

In this way, the free app feels limited, but it’s hard to argue with the savings it provides. Check it out the next time you’re shopping, and see what it can do for you.
