Ron Paul iPhone app a mobile must-have for political maverick’s fans

Daniel Chen really likes politician Ron Paul.

So Chen, a sushi chef by day, spent months creating a way to mobilize the former Texas congressman’s “revolution,” and the result is the Ron Paul app for iPhone and iPod Touch. The 99-cent app aggregates all things Ron Paul, which makes it easy for fans (or foes) to keep up on all his political positions and activities.

The Ron Paul app features an inline chat, a news feed, video, audio, links to fan blogs, access to the Facebook fan page, Paul’s Twitter feed, an event calendar and Paul’s congressional voting record, among other mobile treasures.

Ron Paul (the app, that is) isn’t perfect. When selecting a video to watch from the video tab, you’ll first be taken the clip’s YouTube page, where you’ll have to launch the video yourself. The literature tab is empty at this point and while you can read Paul’s Twitter feed, you can’t really interact with it.

But even with the app’s shortcomings, Chen has created a solid app that Paul’s fans will appreciate, even with the 99-cent purchase price. Although Paul hasn’t officially endorsed the app, his camp should really consider doing so if he decides to move forward with a presidential run in 2012.
