Redecorate and remodel with these nine free iPhone apps

Summer is the perfect time of year to open all the windows and throw a fresh coat of paint on the walls, or to finally tackle that kitchen installation project you’ve been dreaming about all winter long. So if you’ve been bit by the home remodeling bug, check out these nine free home remodeling iPhone apps for inspiration — as well as help with installation.

Apps for Inspiration

The free Remodelista app is a daily sourcebook for interior design lovers straight from the popular website of the same name, which has famous fans like Gwyneth Paltrow. Check out this savvy home design app if you are looking for unique finds or inspiration to infuse your living space with modern and eco-friendly style.

The Modern Luxury publishers brought their interior-focused magazines to the iPhone with the free Interiors: iPhone Edition app. This app is great for checking out modern, luxurious homes for inspiration, and for finding the trendiest home goods in large cities across the United States like Chicago and Miami.

The free Trends Magazine USA app is a great resource for upscale home remodeling projects. The app comes with one magazine for a free download, and then offers users other issues of Trends concentrating on kitchens, baths and more for 99 cents each.

Ever walked into a home and instantly thought “Pottery Barn?” The chain home store has somewhat of a cult-like following all over America, and I’ve walked into my fair share of Pottery Barn-inspired homes. Now you can save some trees by viewing the infamous home catalog via iPhone by downloading the free Pottery Barn Catalog Viewer app to get your daily dose of traditional home inspiration. Plus, all the stores’ catalogs are neatly organized in one app: Bed and bath, kids, outdoors and more!

Have a more modern taste? Check out the free version of the Dream Home app for home inspiration photos organized by room, color, style and most popular photos. Press the play button and the app cycles through the beautifully designed, modern home photos.

Apps for Installation

The Home Depot, the go-to warehouse store for all things remodeling-project related, has a free iPhone app that allows you to create a shopping list and access “know how” videos for tasks such as drywall repair and faucet installation. The app’s main function is to find the store closest to you (though you could have just Binged it).

America’s obsession with all things home can be summed up in the creation, wild popularity and ultimate success of the HGTV Network. Check out the free HGTVtoGO app to view your favorite home-focused shows and helpful remodeling tips straight from your iPhone. Check out “Holmes on Homes” to see how home remodeling projects gone wrong have been fixed.

I’m always moving photos around to different walls in my home, and I never seem to have a level on hand. Fret no more — now I have the free Stanley Bostitch Level app on my iPhone to ensure level photos all over my home, whenever I’m in the mood for a little redecorating.

Paint like a pro with the free ProConnection app from Benjamin Moore. This app is meant for professional painters, so it has a function allowing users to save projects by contact. I recommend this function for home owners who have multiple rooms to paint; you can simply save details for paint colors by room instead of contact.
