QuickSpace – The “Out of Space” Killer

As the camera on mobile devices becomes increasingly advanced with higher quality and capture settings for a vast range of environments, so do the file sizes of the content. As fewer images continue to take up an increasing amount of memory, users are often left compromising between the photos that are already in their gallery in order to make room for new memories that they wish to create. In the most extreme circumstances, users who desire to capture a special moment are notified that there is no more available memory, leaving few immediate alternatives beyond trying to frantically delete other files or forgoing the ability to capture the memory.

QuickSpace, developed by Idastic Labs, provides an ideal solution to this situation by providing estimates of how much memory is left prior to users being shown the “Out of Space” banner.

To ensure that users are always aware of how much capacity still remains on their device, QuickSpace specifically estimates the number of photos or the length of video that can be taken with the available memory. In doing so, those who capture a lot of content are able to better plan their capacity so that they are not left deleting cherished memories or unable to record important moments.  As opposed to obscure technical terminology such as the number of bytes that are left, the app is extremely intuitive in explaining exactly how many photos or minutes that can be taken, making it easy to understand for those who are not familiar with technical measurements.

Beyond simply indicating the number of photos and video length that is still available, QuickSpace also ranks the content within the gallery based on how much memory each file takes up. For example, videos that take up the most memory are shown at the top while scrolling down shows the videos that take up less. Through this sorting, users of the app are able to quickly see which file is taking up the most space to clear a large amount of space at once instead of spending more time deleting photos that may not be occupying as much capacity.

Although the app is highly efficient in providing its users with information to avoid not having enough memory during important moments, the data is not accessed in the camera app but rather as its own standalone app. For this reason, users may still run out of memory during important times if they do not regularly check directly with QuickSpace, a task that can be regarded as repetitive. While this is an extra step, the app does provide many benefits for its use including a comprehensive guide outlining detailed instructions on how to delete content, change the quality of video recording, and empty the recycling bin. Through this guide, a substantial amount of value is can be derived from accessing the app regularly.

To avoid situations where the Out of Space notification appears, QuickSpace provides an intuitive gauge to alert users of their available memory status before it is exhausted.

Given how popular user-created content is as a result of development in mobile camera technology, being able to record special memories can be straining as picture quality increases to take up more space. To avoid situations where the “Out of Space” notification appears, QuickSpace provides an intuitive gauge to alert users of their available memory status before it is exhausted.
