Can you name the two U.S. senators who represent your state? What about their political parties? With election season in full swing, it might be time to for a refresher course. And the Pick a Party iPhone app is a fun way to go about it.

The app provides you with the name, state and a headshot photo of each of our nation’s 100 senators. Your task is to guess which party he or she is associated with by tapping on the red elephant icon (Republican) or the blue donkey icon (Democrat).

If your response is on the money, you will get a “correct.” If not, you will hear a “sorry.” There are a couple of independents sprinkled in there for good measure.

Once you have completed the game, or had your fill, you will be given your final score. The senators can be placed either in random or alphabetical order.

The app entertains for a few minutes, but would be better if it included a little background information on the senators. Or better yet, if it included members of the House of Representatives, or governors, in addition to the senators. Also, there is no information regarding who is up for re-election this November.
