Opera Mini 6.5 unleashed for iOS

Hot on the heels of its latest 6.5 update for Android which emerged a few weeks ago, Opera just released a similar update for its browser on iOS too.

If you’re looking for an alternative to the native Safari browser on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, Opera Mini might be worth a look. It boast some pretty impressive compression technology which means the browser loads web pages more quickly by ‘compressing’ the data on its own servers then showing you the page. Faster browsing means getting the info you need swiftly, which can be key in areas of low connectivity or if you’re finding your data plan prices are skyrocketing.

Alongside this cool technology, a few more bugs have been fixed in this latest release. There’s promised improvements to the app’s general stability, support for Google and Apple’s ‘autocorrect’ technology and spellcheck capabilities.

Based in Norway, Opera Software ASA has been making browser alternatives for a number of years on the PC, Mac and mobile platforms. With a firmer emphasis on their mobile offerings these days, it seems the company is continuing to innovate and support its products well.
