NPR Music goes to the next level for iPad users with latest update

Although NPR Music is now a universal download for all devices, it’s the new iPad audience that will truly benefit from the app’s latest update.

NPR offers an elegantly designed interface and is jam-packed with the best music content the radio network has to offer. Through the app, users can live stream a variety of stations and add the best ones to their favorites list for quick access. NPR Music also provides 24/7 access to its most popular music programming, such as All Songs Considered. Fans of NPR might be surprised by the vast library of videos that included in the app, like archival interviews or the beloved Tiny Desk Concert. The articles section offers up the latest in music news, and because you can browse while you stream live radio, you can have an immersive NPR experience.

You’ll want to make sure you have your favorite tunes in your iPad’s iTunes, because NPR Music will scan your library in order to offer up personalized selections. Pretty cool. The sound quality isn’t stellar (it’s not terrible either) through iPad’s small speakers, but the app does offer support for AirPlay.

If you are considering the free app as another method of getting some music in your life, be sure to install it before March 7. That’s when indie rock band The Shins will be giving a concert at 10 p.m. EST, exclusively available on NPR Music.
