QuickVoice Recorder is just that: a quick easy way to record your voice and other nearby sounds. It’s a worthy, albeit unspectacular, application. Depending on your device, you may need an external microphone to record anything that is not within a few inches of you.

The app has several tools that make it easier to search through a recording, as well as a file-size indicator. On the other hand, depending on your device, you may need an external microphone to record anything that is not within a few inches of you. QuickVoice also displays a timer while recording. This is helpful if you are planning to send the recording as an email. The free version of QuickVoice that I used limited email attachments to 2 MB, which works out to about 45 seconds. Be short and sweet!

Each recording automatically receives a name that can be changed easily. And, QuickVoice Recorder has a slide that you can use to quickly navigate, handy with longer recordings. In addition, two time indicators are in view during playback — one counting up and the other counting down. These are handy for noting where certain passages are located on the recording.

QuickVoice Recorder displays a scrolling list of recordings; you simply tap on a recording and the Play button is enabled for that recording. The current recording is indicated by a small blue icon.

When I first used QuickVoice Recorder, the icon actually was a bit confusing. When you are in Record mode, the new recording does not show up in the list. That gives you the mistaken impression that you are recording over another message. In keeping with this app’s simplicity, you cannot add to an already-created recording.
