New iPhone apps worth downloading: Younity, Stubhub update, Papa Pear Saga

Today’s fresh apps list starts with Younity, an cloud-sharing app that lets you turn your devices into a personal, private cloud. The app works by letting you access all your documents and files on all your devices, without uploading them to the Internet. We’ve also got an update to Stubhub, a service that makes it easy to find and buy tickets to lots of events, and sell the ones you don’t want. Finally, there’s Papa Pear Saga, a fast arcade game that takes a few pages from Plinko and pinball.

Younity (Free)

What’s it about? Create a personal cloud between all your devices with Younity, which allows you to quickly share files and documents between your devices without uploading them to the Internet.

What’s cool? There are services that let you save files to online locations to access from any device, but what about the files you already have on your various devices? Younity solves the issue of sharing those files with a personalized cloud that’s created by your devices, and doesn’t exist online – meaning that it’s private and doesn’t require you to upload stuff to the Internet, and instead just links your devices together. The app lets you access files no matter what they’re saved on, including your online services, and converts files to iOS-appropriate types so you can access them remotely. Just note that you’ll need to install Younity to your computers and other devices for the app to work.

Who’s it for? If you need access to all your files remotely, no matter where they’re saved, try Younity.

What’s it like? Other useful cloud-saving services include Dropbox and Google Drive.

Stubhub update (Free)

What’s it about? Ticket-buying app Stubhub puts all the information you need for attending events in your hands, making it easy to check out where your seats are, purchase your tickets, and more.

What’s cool? There’s a lot of things to consider when attending an event, and Stubhub makes all that information easy to come by. The app is great for getting tickets to sporting events, concerts, and just about anything else, and provides you with a look at the venue, the location of available seats, the ability to filter search results by price, and even info on parking and nearby bars and restaurants. You can also use Stubhub to invite friends to events using social networks like Facebook, and the app supports the ability to sell your tickets, as well. Stubhub’s latest update brings lists of upcoming events in your area when you fire up the app, as well as navigation improvements and better filtering for finding what you want to go to, for the price you’re willing to pay.

Who’s it for? Anyone looking for a quick, convenient way to get set up to attend an event – or to unload tickets for something you can’t get to – should try Stubhub.

What’s it like? You’ll find more resources for attending events and buying tickets in SeatGeek Tickets.

Papa Pear Saga (Free)

What’s it about? Plinko-style arcade game Papa Pear Saga tasks players with launching balls at a series of pins and other obstacles, which they need to break to score points.

What’s cool? Papa Pear Saga is all about taking down enough points to clear each of its arcade levels, and to do that, you’ll need a combination of luck and skill. The luck comes from good bounces as you shoot a ball at a series of pins, much like an upside-down pinball table or a Plinko board. The ball bounces off the pins to score points before ultimately dropping into a bucket at the bottom. The skill is derived from making smart, well-aimed shots that will get you the most points, especially when you start factoring in things like multipliers and power-ups. Papa Pear Saga includes more than 100 levels, as well as leaderboards that let you compare your performance to that of other players.

Who’s it for? Players who like arcade games that are easy to play, but also can require some skills, will have a good time wasting a few minutes with Papa Pear Saga.

What’s it like? You’ll find some similar mechanics and high-score potential in Zen Pinball and 3D Brick Breaker Revolution.
