NARR8 update (Free)

What’s it about? Read, watch and listen to motion comics on your iPad across a number of genres from NARR8.

What’s cool? NARR8 is an interactive content app that’s filled with stories across a variety of genres. Mostly it’s packed with “motion comics” – comics like you’d read in comic books, but with the addition of special effects, interactivity, motion and sound. The result is a hybrid that’s not quite animation, but not as static as traditional comics, bringing something dynamic to storytelling while maintaining a comic aesthetic. NARR8 also features social capabilities that lets you connect with comic creators and other readers. The latest update to NARR8 adds two new educational motion comics: Panda & Boom and Qumi-Qumi, for kids 2-6 and 8-12, respectively. You can also now use the app to create your own interactive stories.

Who’s it for? If you’re a fan of motion comics or want to create some of your own, try NARR8.

What’s it like? You’ll find more traditional comics in Comixology’s Comics app and Dark Horse Comics.

Hero of Many ($3.99)

What’s it about? Guide a swarm of water creatures through various levels and battles in Hero of Many, a side-scrolling game about exploration and survival.

What’s cool? In Hero of Many, you play a orb-like creature exploring dark, underwater caves. As you move through them, you’ll find water beings that you must guide and protect as you explore and find your way out of each level. Mixing puzzles and action, you’ll often need to find a way to pass certain obstacles, and others work to fight off other vicious sea creatures with the help of your friends. You’ll work through physics puzzles and explore your way through 26 different levels spread across four worlds.
