New iPhone apps worth downloading: It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown & Photoset

Here are a couple of iPhone apps with which to start the week off right. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown from Loud Crow Interactive arrives just in time for the build up to Halloween and offers plenty of Peanuts fun. Photoset is a new app from the brains behind Tumblr. It enables you to quickly and easily create great-looking “photo sets” from your images and share them via Tumblr, Twitter and elsewhere.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown ($4.99)

What’s it about? Enjoy Halloween this year by hanging out with Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts crew!

What’s cool? You can create your very own character and join Charlie Brown at his first ever Halloween party. There are hundreds of different costumes combinations to choose, you can carve your own pumpkin, go trick-or-treating with Lucy, bob for apples with Snoopy, and even play a ditty on Schroeder’s precious piano.

Who is it for? This interactive storybook will likely appeal to both kids and parents alike. The story has been beautifully redesigned for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. Digitally remastered illustrations are brought to life with the voices, dialog and music from the original 1966 animated TV special.

What’s it like? There are a few other worthy Charlie Brown apps by Loud Crow Interactive for fans to check out like A Charlie Brown Christmas and My Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. You could also try Peanuts Cartoons or the Snoopy’s Street Fair game.

Photoset (Free)

What’s it about? Photoset lets you create and share beautiful collections of hi-res images (called photosets) on your iPhone or iPad.

What’s cool? The app’s description is deceptively simple: add photos and share them on Tumblr, Twitter, etc. And that’s it really. But the simplicity is what makes Photoset fun. Arrange the photos anyway you like and add captions. Then you can simply upload them to the web and will be given a URL to share. If you’re already a Tumblr user, you can log-in via the app, choose a default blog, and upload photos directly to it.

Who is it for? Photo sharing is fun, and Photoset makes it very, very simple. Admittedly, those looking for more editing and tweaking features may be dissatisfied, but as a way to quickly and efficiently upload a stream of photos to the web for easy sharing, Photoset’s simplicity is a bonus.

What’s it like? Tumblr has its own app, too, if you want to update your blog postings while you’re uploading a new photoset. In addition, popular services like Instagram and Flickr offer great opportunities to upload your photos quickly and share them with the world.
