New iPhone apps worth downloading: Atmospheir, Lumosity Mobile, Dark District

Add a social component to your Contacts Lists with today’s first app worth downloading, Atmospheir, which adds social networks to your contacts and keeps information from them automatically updated. Following that is Lumosity Mobile, an educational app filled with brain exercises designed to make your brain stronger, increasing things like memory and attentiveness. Our games offering today is Dark District, a massively multiplayer strategy title that encourages players to build bases, raise forces, and team up with and battle one another.

Atmospheir (Free)

What’s it about? Add social networking capabilities to your address book using Atmospheir, which allows you to add lots more information about your Contacts for a more complete, useful list.

What’s cool? You can save a lot of information to your Contacts list by default in iOS, but Atmospheir looks to increase it even further by looping in social networks to give you a more complete listing of info about the people you store in your phone. The app lets you tie your contacts to their social networking profiles across services such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Vimeo, and many more, and the app continually updates relevant information about your contacts based on what they save online – so you’ll never miss an updated phone number or new email address. You can also choose which networks to share with others when they add you as a contact, and the app only lets you connect to people directly using a unique user ID, or through a mutual contact who can give an introduction.

Who’s it for? If you’ve got tons of contacts and need a better way of keeping them updated, adding their information, and more, try Atmospheir.

What’s it like? Other useful apps for managing your contacts are Simpler Pro and Smartr Contacts.

Lumosity Mobile (Free)

What’s it about? Lumosity Mobile provides users with activities and exercises meant to help them strengthen their brains.

What’s cool? Designed by the likes of neuroscientists, Lumosity Mobile can be thought of as an app filled with brain teasers. But unlike the games users might sometimes play, the idea behind Lumosity is to use those exercises to help strengthen a number of areas of the brain, including memory and attention. The app creates a personalized brain-training program to help you strengthen areas in which you need work, but it also adds a social gaming component by allowing you to share your scores on different puzzles and challenge friends, as well.

Who’s it for? If you think your brain could use some training (and you wouldn’t mind also competing with friends), try Lumosity Mobile.

What’s it like? There’s also an iPad version of Lumosity, and you can get more brain-training from Fit Brains Trainer.

Dark District (Free)

What’s it about? Battle for control of a content under perpetual night in sci-fi strategy title Dark District, in which players band together to take on one another and computer-controlled opponents.

What’s cool? Dark District is another of developer Kabam’s massively multiplayer strategy games, in which players must raid each other for resources while building up bases, raising armies, and constructing defenses. The game supports single- and multipalyer combat, allowing you to build your stronghold and attack computer-controlled enemies, or ally with and battle other players. Fights require you to construct various units and deploy them on the fly as you attack an enemy stronghold, so positioning and concentrated fire are key to survival and victory. You’ll also need to plan to keep your stronghold out of enemy hands while you’re not playing, should other players attack you.

Who’s it for? Players who enjoy strategy titles, as well as multiplayer competition and cooperation, will want to see what’s available in Dark District.

What’s it like? Try Kabam’s other multiplayer strategy titles, The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth and Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon.
