New iPhone apps worth downloading: Cal, CREAM style, Dungeonism

Today’s crop of apps worth downloading starts with one that will hopefully help make you more organized. It’s Cal, a to-do list app with a number of features that can help you keep your action items in order, plus a new update that brings tons of calendar functionality to the app as well. Following that is CREAM style, a fashion app that brings you the latest in style and the ability to buy all the cool things it showcases. Finally, Dungeonism is a “rogue-ish” turn-based role-playing title with a Pac-Man like presentation.

Cal (Free)

What’s it about? Calendar app Cal brings a simple, elegant aesthetic to managing your calendar, and makes it easy to manage everything you have going on with useful social features.

What’s cool? The developers at Cal are known for the simple design they bring to their to-do list app, and it’s that same design philosophy that informs the newly released Cal. The app has a clean, easy to use interface and syncs with your calendars from Apple and Google to put all your events in one place. It can also connect with your Contacts list and Facebook account to bring in events like birthdays and parties. The app is easy to connect with Cal, too, and does a great job of showing you what you have going on, when and where by bringing in maps, contact information and more. Best of all, perhaps, is that the design throws in photos to every day on the calendar, making looking at dates in a list a little less boring.

Who’s it for? If you’re looking for a calendar app that can keep you organized and with a gorgeous, simple design, try Cal.

What’s it like? You might also want to grab Any.DO for maximum coordination between your events and your to-do lists.

CREAM style (Free)

Dungeonism ($1.99)

What’s it about? Travel through old-school dungeons, face monsters and earn loot in Dungeonism, a turn-based role-playing dungeon crawler with lots of strategy and exploration on offer.

What’s cool? Dungeonism is both a turn-based RPG and a tile-based game, meaning each of the levels you’ll explore is set up on a grid that requires you to move around strategically as you engage in fights and explore the terrain. The game has you exploring dungeons and fighting enemies with turn-based combat, and the game takes inspiration from titles such as Pac-Man with its presentation and map design, and the various levels include randomized elements and a top-down perspective that makes it feel a bit like the “rogue-like” genre, as well. You’ll need to be careful as you quest along, however, as being killed on any map will rob you of anything you’ve earned on that level along the way.

Who’s it for? Players interested in old-school style games will enjoy Dungeonism’s combination of multiple older genres to make something new.

What’s it like? Grab Dungelot and Pixel Defenders are a couple of other solid rogue-like RPGs that are worth your attention.
