Never miss a Facebook photo with the Pixable iPhone app

Now that Facebook has bought Instagram your friend feeds are likely to explode with images. That’s why it’s a great time to check out Pixable, a social photo viewer for iPhone and iPod Touch.

Pixable works with your Facebook and Twitter accounts to display a feed of all of the most recent and most popular photos posted on your friend feeds, based on what you like and comment on. Images are displayed in a thumbnail grid and the app smartly uses iOS gestures to maximize the user experience. After you’ve zoomed-in on a photo you can swipe left or right to see the next newly posted image. Swiping up or down flips through the album from which that particular image was pulled. Top photos are derived from how you interact with friends on Facebook, through comments and likes. You can also view images posted to Twitter via sources including Twitpic and YouTube.

If you like a particular image you can add a hashtag to quickly find it later, or save it to your camera roll. You can select specific friends to follow and receive notifications of when they add a photo—ideal for following family members if you don’t want to miss any baby photos or the like.

Pixable is synced to Facebook and Twitter, too. That means not only does the app pull in photos, it also pushes out your comments, retweets and likes to their respective networks. It’s a great way to catch up on photo updates.
