NBC shows come to more small screens

The NBC app for iPad is now available on iPhone and iPod Touch, and it’s worth grabbing if you’re a fan of the Peacock’s programming.

Users can access information about NBC’s entire lineup, including video highlights and clips, photo galleries, interactive games and a complete nightly schedule. Those with an NBC.com account can also add their favorite programs to a custom myNBC section for further personalization.

The best feature of NBC by far is the availability of full episodes of your favorite (and some not so favorite) NBC shows. You’ll need to watch a brief ad before you can view, but the load times of my test episodes were quick. Sound quality was good, too. Video quality varies — it’ll be best on a steady Wi-Fi connection, obviously — but it still functioned adequately on my iPhone 4, even with a weak 3G signal.

I ran into a few glitches, including freezing and some ghosting while I scrolled through the show options, but a hard restart of the app solved both issues.

I’m glad to see NBC branching out from iPad with its free episode capabilities — ABC et al. should take note.
