MLB.com At Bat update tops iOS Apps of the Week

This week might just be another in the middle of summer to you, but to me it’s MLB All-Star week. Not enthused yet? Check out our top app of the week, MLB.com At Bat, which saw its price drop to $9.99 for the rest of the season. If baseball just isn’t your game, our other top apps might interest you. We’ve got apps for song making, Facebook messaging, photograph selling and old-school drawing.

MLB.com At Bat

If you missed out on picking up MLB.com At Bat at the start of the season but you’re still dying to track all the games around the league, there’s no time like the present to pick it up. The subscription price has lowered to $9.99 for the remainder of the season. The recently-updated app also has added additional coverage for the upcoming MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby this week.

Etch-o-Matic for Sphero

Owners of Sphero, the ball that you can use in concert with your smartphone, can pick up another use for the peripheral by downloading Etch-o-Matic. The Sphero and Etch-o-Matic work together to create retro looking drawings on theiriPhone. Users hold the Sphero in their hand and twist and turn it and the results are then reflected on the iPhone screen when Etch-o-Matic is open. Users can also save their drawings and then share them directly to Twitter.

Figure

Creating a hit song can be a long, laborious process. The Figure app challenges that premise completely, promising that you can create tunes with just a few minutes to spare. Users can make songs with drums, bass and synth using the app by sliding their fingers around the iPhone screen. Songs can be played in different keys or modes, while features like Shuffle and Pump alter the sound of the tracks in various websites. The audio in Figure is based off of the Reason software’s Thor synthesizer and Kong drum machine.

Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger got an update that upgrades many of its keys features this week. Users can now quickly switch between multiple conversations thanks to in-app notifications, bring friends of friends into their conversations and delete individual messages from conversations as well. Facebook Messenger also promises to load faster and allow users to see more top friends when they’re composing messages.

Foap

Fancy yourself as a real photographer? Put your money where your iPhone is and jump on Foap and try to sell your pictures, then. Foap lets you upload your pictures for free where buyers can then purchase them from the app for commercial use. You can also check out the top-rated photos in the app and comment on photos they’re viewing, as well.
