Meet the Members: Liz Snow (@lizsnow)

Liz Snow recently relocated to New York City, and is busy navigating the subway with the best NYC transportation apps. So far, she has 43 apps in her app library.

1. Tell us about yourself – where you live, your job, things you like to do.

I just recently moved to New York City and I am loving every minute of living in the best city in the world! I have always been a closet tech geek, and successfully hid my geek side until I got my iPad and the Verizon iPhone. There is no going back! I try to stay up to date on all the new apps and tech news, and I am a sucker for all Apple rumors. I work at as a publicist at Regan Communications, a small boutique PR firm that does local and national PR and social media for a variety of clients. If I am not busy at work, I love to go out and discover new things and enjoy life in NYC!

2. Which iOS device or devices do you own? Why did you choose iPhone or iPad?

I have the entire line-up: iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch…I am a true Apple loyalist. I love my iPad to read all of my morning newspapers and the next hit novel with my Kindle, and catch up on my favorite TV shows on Hulu and Netflix. My iPhone has become my go-to device, I would be lost – literally! – without it!

3. Is there a particular category of apps that interests you the most? What are your top apps?

  • Foursquare/Facebook/Twitter – I use these every single day, and let’s be serious, who doesn’t?
  • Spotify – I couldn’t have been more excited for Spotify to launch in the U.S. after waiting for soooo long. Unlimited music on my iPhone, yes please!
  • Starbucks Card Mobile – I always have my phone handy, and not necessarily my wallet. This makes paying for my morning coffee so much easier, especially on Monday mornings.
  • DrinkOwl – This app doesn’t get enough credit, but it is able to point me to numerous happy hours throughout NYC. Updated daily, it tells you the specials, where to go for various types of happy hours, and when the specials are happening.

5. What apps are popular among your colleagues and friends?

MusicPound – Just recently released, but it is the first app that allows me to compare music playlists with my friends iPhone to iPhone, or iPad, or iPod! We have been MusicPound-ing around the office and with friends to see who has the highest music compatibility rating. I have to say I was pretty surprised when MusicPound discovered that my co-worker and I both still have some Backstreet Boys in our iTunes playlists. Haha!

6. Give an example of a time an app was truly useful to you.

NYSubView Pro & HopStop – I no longer have to look like a tourist pulling out an NYC Subway map, I have it right on my phone. Super helpful when you need a quick glance to see what line goes where. Combined with HopStop, there is no way I can ever get lost in the city again. HopStop tells you exactly what line to take, and where to take it from. Always a life saver!

7. What other Appolicious member do you admire the most and why?

So far, all of the Appolicious editorial team and their recommended lists have been awesome! Also, I don’t think one Appolicious member has steered me in the wrong direction. It is overall such a great community of app enthusiasts.

8. Do you have URL’s you’d like to share?
