1. Tell us about yourself – where you live, your job, things you like to do.

I live in Monterrey, Mexico, and am the Technology Integration Specialist for the Euroamerican School of Monterrey (K-9). I am an Apple Distinguished Educator who loves games, photos, and Web 2.0.

2. Which iOS device or devices do you own?

I have the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2. My iPhone is like a Swiss Army knife or my fourth child. My iPad is my reading buddy.

3. Is there a particular category of apps that interests you the most?

Education and entertainment. I love the potential for early learners and special education.

4. What are your top apps?

Toy SLR – aka Digital Focus – wonderful photo app that makes my pictures look like a pro.

Remote – makes it easy to use my AppleTV by sharing videos, photos, music and more.

SCVNGR – build challenges and play them using geolocation.

TED Mobile – keeps me up-to-date with all the new content on the web.

Kideos – kid-friendly YouTube-like app, categorized by age and keywords.

5. What apps are popular among your colleagues and friends?

WhatsApp, GoDocs, Tiny Wings and Cut the Rope.

6. Give an example of a time an app was truly useful to you.

My family and I were in Acapulco for New Year’s and the traffic was very bad. It would have taken us over two hours to get back to the beach house. My husband flagged a boat and we hitched a ride and used Google Maps to get back to the house. We arrived in less than 10 minutes!

Another time, my 7-year old daughter caught a pretty bad flu bug and had to stay the overnight at the hospital. My husband was out of town and couldn’t get a flight back. We used FaceTime to keep him updated and in constant communication with her. It was wonderful to be able to see each other!

7. What other Appolicious members do you admire the most and why?

cgagliolo, wfryer, elemenous – fellow Apple Distinguished Educators.

Lydia2 and Darthipad – you can always count on them for great reviews.

8. Anything else you’d like to share with the Appolicious audience?

Appolicious is a great tool to build app libraries quickly and efficiently. By connecting with others and sharing findings, you can have a huge collection of great apps without having to try them all out yourself. It’s a great professional learning network full of generous members willing to guide and recommend!
