KLIK iOS app can recognize friends before you even take their photo

A new app called KLIK by Face.com has a clever trick up its sleeve. Point your iOS camera at a person and it has the ability to recognize them and tag them before you’ve even taken the shot.

According to Liz Gannes at AllThingsD, the app was developed by Face.com in Tel Aviv. Face.com already offers a facial-recognition API to 45,000 developers and can do things like unlock a computer or smartphone by recognizing a face.

With KLIK, you’ll need to allow the app to access your Facebook account, and it will scan all your photos in which you and your contacts are tagged. If you’ve got a lot of friends and a whole boatload of photos on Facebook, this process can take a long time.

If KLIK doesn’t recognize a face, you can use its “Learn” mode to train and improve recognition.

KLIK is available in the iTunes App Store now and it’s free. Face.com is actively welcoming feedback by the looks of things, posting this support address in the app’s description if you have any comments. So why not give it a shot and see how it does with your friends’ photos?
