iPhone App Video Review: Spirit

The iPhone nevers stops impressing me with the quality apps it can produce. As it continues to gain more of a mainstream grab over the entire phone market, there seems to be a large amount of amazing apps available. Spirit is just one example of this quality.

The game seems to be based loosely off of popular arcade games like Geometry Wars and similar styled games. But unlike the popular shooter, this game involves no projectiles from your character. Instead it is your goal to stay alive by creating black holes in your universe that will suck up any enemies that come in contact with it.

The concept itself is very simple but it’s the overall presentation that blew me away. The sounds, graphics, and smoothness of this game are top notch. You are instantly propelled into a game with three different modes to pick from. Everything went smoothly and I found it to be much more difficult than it looked.

It has both GameCenter and OpenFeint compatibility so you can compare your scores with the world. Definitely check this one out.
