iPhone App Video Review: Monsters Ate My Condo

The goal of the game is to keep the giant Godzilla-sized monsters from toppling your tower of condos by keeping them fed and happy. You need to feed them condos that match their color, and if you don’t feed them long enough or feed them enough of the wrong color, they rage out and mess up your tower.

Matching three condos of the same color will merge them into a special shiny condo, which then combine into even shinier ones. Matching three aligns your tower a bit, and helps stave off collapse. Before you know it, special blocks such as immovable cinder blocks and timed bomb blocks mix things up, and it gets very hectic, very fast. Feeding a monster a special block will lead to them unleashing their own special power, which have various effects. Should you get bored of this madness, you can switch to Time Trial mode, which is just about getting as many combos as possible in a given amount of time. Game Center and OpenFeint leaderboards and achievements are both supported. There are tons of achievements to work towards in the game, and there is always some kind of challenge to tackle.

The art is a cool mix of 2D and 3D graphics, and it’s extremely flashy and psychedelic. Each of the four monsters are packed with personality, and they even have their own biography pages in the game. Everything from the music to the graphics to the gameplay are lots of crazy fun. This is an iOS universal app, and it costs one dollar. Check it out.
