So, you’re sitting on the other side of the library from someone and you want to say something to them, but you’re too lazy too get up and you don’t know their phone number.  Enter the world of Marquee. (99 cents).

With Marquee, you can choose from a set of pre-written messages (or write your own), choose the font, the background and text color (even rainbow text…exciting!), the speed and style by which the message will scroll or flash on your iPhone screen, and then hold the screen up towards the person with whom you’d like to communicate and let them read your message from across the room! Wow!

If it seems like I’m being a little sarcastic, that’s because I am. But just because I have absolutely no use whatsoever for an iPhone app like Marquee doesn’t mean other people don’t.

Marquee does its job well. It allows for easy and well-varied customization of your message. It includes a large selection of emoticons that you can include in your Marquee message, and, well, that’s it. I can’t think of anything else it should do.

And while I was a little miffed that Marquee costs 99 cents, I suppose I should be grateful that an iPhone app that flashes banner messages across my iPhone screen is free of banner ads.  Similar apps cost as much as $3.99.
