iPad App Video Review: Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP

Mar 28, 2011

After months of waiting we are finally able to download one of the most anticipated iPad games of the year. Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is a game created by the developer Capybara Games and is essentially an action/adventure game with a heavy emphasis on the audio/visual experience.

The game follows the adventures of a wandering warrior monk who discovers a magical world with some serious issues to deal with. Words have a hard time doing justice to this game. At first glance, its extremely simplistic controls and slow-paced gameplay might make some players nervous. But once into the game, players will recognize one of the deepest and richest game experiences ever to hit the device.

It features an extremely rich story with excellent writing and humor. Visually, the game is in a class of its own with the audio taking a very close second if not equaling its achievement. The game only has one story mode to play through and offers a very large range of puzzles and quests to complete.

Sound and music fit perfectly into this game and really complement the tone of the story. I cannot give this game enough praise and it stands as a shining example of what quality gaming can look like on the iPad. At the time of this review, it’s only available on the iPad but is scheduled to release in a month for the iPhone and iPod touch.

If you have the medium amount of cash to spare, know that it will be going to the creators of a masterpiece. This game is amazing in every way. Definitely grab it.
