iPad App Video Review: Battleheart

I’m not a huge RPG fan and tend to avoid any game I need to invest a lot of time and thought into. But Battleheart for iPad has helped me take the next step towards this genre by providing a class-based experience with both real-time strategy and an RPG element.

The game is a strange blend of these different genres and ends up being a ton of fun. You start with two characters, a knight and a cleric. These two each have their own abilities to help fight whatever enemy may be presented to them in each level. You can level them up as well as hire new characters to join your fight. The realtime strategy element is very basic, only giving you the option to choose who each character fights and maneuver them to safety if they’re being attacked.

Each battle plays out like a tower defense game where you need to survive a wave of attackers. Each progressively gets harder and challenges you to manage your characters well and ensure you have the resources to outlast.

Overall, the game is very simple but the art and features make it a fun experience to play through. Check it out.
