How to Re-Download Purchased Apps, Music, Films, and TV Programs on Your iOS Device

Logging in to your Apple ID

In order to have access to all of your previously-downloaded items you first need to know your Apple ID and password.

  1. From the home screen, go to Settings.
  2. Go to iTunes & App Store.
  3. Log in with your Apple ID – which is probably your email – and password.

Finding your purchased apps

With so many apps on the market it’s easy to forget what you’ve purchased in the past, but luckily the App Store remembers everything.

  1. From the home screen, go to App Store.
  2. Go to Purchased on the bottom of the screen.
  3. A list of every app you’ve ever purchased on that account will appear. To find only the ones that aren’t on that particular device, tap Not on This iPad, iPhone, or iPod.
  4. To search for a particular app, type the name in the search bar.
  5. If you want to re-download an app, press the image of the cloud with a blue arrow pointing down.
  6. The app should now start downloading.

Finding your purchased music, films, and TV programs

If anything has to make way for more space, it’ll more than likely be the hefty films and TV programs. Luckily, those and music can all be found in the same place.

  1. From the home screen, go to iTunes.
  2. Go to Purchased on the bottom of the screen.
  3. Three tabs will appear at the top: Music, Films, and TV Programs. Select which one you want to search for.
  4. A list of every song (separated initially by artist), film, or TV program you’ve ever purchased on that account will appear. To find only the ones that aren’t on that particular device, tap Not on This iPad, iPhone, or iPod.
  5. To search for a particular song, film, or TV program, type the name in the search bar.
  6. If you want to re-download a song, film, or TV program press the image of the cloud with a blue arrow pointing down.
  7. Your item should no start downloading.
