How often do you go to the movies? Whether it is once a month or 10 times a week, the MovieFone app for the iPhone is simply a must-have.

A customizable movie and theater information database, MoviePhone, through the integrated iPhone GPS, first indicates theaters in your area and provides a list of films showing. Tap on a theater location and films and times appear, along with (where applicable) a “buy ticket” button.

Featured buttons include Movies, Theaters, Trailers and Favorites. Tap Movies, and you get films playing in your area. Tap the title, and you get a page that includes a movie poster, star/rating info and a plot synopsis. Trailer and Photo taps get you to those features.

The Theaters button provides individual location to access movies, times and ticket information. When you’re on the road, the integrated MapQuest feature provides directions to the theater.

Can’t decide on what to see? Trailers gives you a preview video, which comes in crystal clear, thanks to special iPhone encoding.

Finally, Favorites is the customized area that allows you to click the heart icon on a theater to add to a list under this category. There is even an iPhone address book integration that allows you to invite your friends to the movies.

This app pretty much gives you everything for assessing and attending movies. Are the celebrity biographies and photos, also included in the app, necessary? Well, if you go to the show, you’ve got to be in the know. MovieFone delivers the cinema smarts.
