Everybody likes a good night of Karaoke now and again, but if stinky bars are not your thing, or you want to brush up on your skills before you head out for the night, check out the ABBA Singbox iPhone app.
The catch is, of course, that you will only be singing ABBA songs. But that saves you from having to flip through the spiral book of thousands of random titles.
To get things rolling, select one of ABBA’s hit songs, such as Winner Takes It All, Mamma Mia, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! or Dancing Queen. Hit play, and the lyrics of the song will appear across the bottom of the screen. Above, colored bars will indicted the notes you’re suppose to be hitting.
Sing well, and your score soars; sing badly, and it dwindles.
For those who take their ABBA, and their Karaokeing seriously, you can stack your scores against those from people around the world. And everything can be shared on Facebook, if you feel compelled to brag.
The app also includes a decent biography about ABBA. The Swedish pop group was composed of two close friends and, later, their wives, who had a string of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The band still enjoys a kind of cult status to this day.
All in all, this app is a little quirky, but a lot of fun.
