Fresh iPhone Games for Nov. 18: RAGE: Mutant Bash TV, TRON update, Total Turret

The hotly anticipated RAGE: Mutant Bash TV from PC and console video game maker id Software just dropped, and it leads off today’s Fresh Games. Read about it, and a couple other cool games we found, in the list below.

RAGE: Mutant Bash TV (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

This rail shooter is an entry into the universe of video game developer id Software’s upcoming RAGE franchise. The PC and console first-person shooter hasn’t been finished and released yet, but in the meantime, you can experience something of the game and its story on your iOS devices.

You can outfit yourself with three different weapons and collect “Rage Bux” to upgrade your character in order to improve your fighting skills. RAGE includes three different levels with four different difficulty settings to blast through.

TRON update (iPhone) Free

Disney’s free app promoting the upcoming movie TRON Legacy just got updated to full functionality, and now includes online combat with tanks and TRON’s iconic light cycles.

The light cycle game is probably familiar to most people. It has players using touch controls to guide a motorcycle around a grid, moving in one of four directions perpetually. Behind the cycle is a trail of light — if an opponent drives into the light trail, they’ll be destroyed, but the same goes for you and their light trail. The trick is to outwit your opponent to force them to make a misstep.

In addition to the light cycle game, TRON includes other game types and exclusive content to promote the film. It’s free, so grab it.

Total Turret (iPad) $0.99

Here’s a simple stationary turret offering that’s easy to pick up and might appeal to more casual gamers. Man your turret and take on incoming tanks as you do your best to defend yourself.

The game features “survival” and “campaign” play modes, but it’s a little thin — basically, pick up Total Turret if you’re looking for an easy-to-play turret shooter for your iPad to kill a little time. You’ve got unlimited ammo and lots of enemies to take out: it’s as simple as that.
