Fresh iPhone Games for May 6: Laser Dolphin, Spider Jack, Mooniz

Get ready for the weekend with three fresh casual games for your iPhone — specifically, one that includes a dolphin wearing a laser. Laser Dolphin leads the pack on today’s Fresh Games list, followed by Spider Jack, which is a puzzle game similar to Cut The Rope, and the fast-paced match-three title Mooniz. Read about all three and get set for your weekend gaming below.

Laser Dolphin (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

When Australia’s prime minister is kidnapped, there’s only one agent with the capabilities to perform a rescue apparently — Laser Dolphin, a frickin’ dolphin with a frickin’ laser beam attached to its head. One thumb controls Laser Dolphin’s movements and the other to fire your laser at enemies, which are generally sea creatures outfitted with missiles and bombs.

Laser Dolphin takes you across four planets and 50 different levels, and if you’re familiar with Sega’s Ecco the Dolphin, you’ll find this game similar to that one. The game also includes two other modes: one that has you performing laser dolphin stunts, and a race mode.

Spider Jack (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

There are a lot of similarities in puzzler Spider Jack to the very popular Cut The Rope, and fans of the latter will find a lot to like. As a spider, you need to catch flies by shooting strands of spider web at different points in each stage, swinging around to grab stars and flies. Your spider climbs up automatically, and you can make him fall by cutting the webs he’s holding.

Spider Jack comes with 75 levels of climbing, swinging and cutting lines to solve puzzles. You’ll get Game Center support for leaderboards and achievements, and developer Clickgamer.com promises updates with more levels to come.

Mooniz (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

A take on the match-three genre, Mooniz is a fast-paced game that’s easy to pick-up and play. The little Mooniz guys of different colors fall from the top of the screen and pile up at the bottom, and your job is to quickly tap away at groups of three or more to eliminate them. The more you can clear in one shot, the more points you earn for each group.

Two game modes adorn Mooniz, letting you play both a classic mode and a rush mode in which you try to snap up as many points as quickly as possible. Mooniz also includes Game Center, which provides achievements and leaderboards.
