Fresh iPhone Games for May 11: Rogo, Scene It? Movies 2, HUPA-HUPA!

Get in on the ground floor of what could be a new puzzle crazy with Rogo, a game that combines grids and numbers with iOS devices’ touchscreen capabilities. It’s the top of our Fresh Games list today, followed by a new version of Scene It? that comes with lots of cool new features, and an Angry Birds-like puzzle game set in a circus. Check them out below.

Rogo (iPhone, iPad) $1.99

Falling into the puzzle genre alongside games like Sudoku, Rogo deals with numbers and grids in a different way than most players are probably used to. Numbers are set on a grid in each level, and in order to complete each level, you’ll have to draw a line using the touchscreen through the numbers to try to create the highest total by adding them up. The challenge comes from needing to connect a specific number of squares with the line you draw.

Rogo comes with 64 puzzles when you first download it for your $1.99, but it also includes in-app purchases that you can make at $0.99 a pop to get even more puzzle packs. The initial offering of puzzles span three different difficulties, and Rogo should appeal to players 8 and up.

Scene It? Movies 2 (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Probably the biggest movie trivia franchise in gaming is back, and it’s $0.99 for this week only. Scene It? Movies 2 includes the kind of Scene It? gameplay we’ve seen before — a trivia game that includes the use of audio, video and pictures to ask you questions about famous movies — but that has a few new tricks up its sleeve, like wager questions (think Jeopardy!) and collectible Unlockable Scenes.

Probably the coolest new feature of Scene It? Movies 2 is the incorporation of AirPlay, which allows players to share the video from Scene It? over several iOS devices in the same room together — basically, creating a party using multiple iPads and iPhones. It also sports Game Center support so you can measure your skills on the online leaderboards.

HUPA-HUPA! $0.99

HUPA-HUPA! is another Angry Birds clone, but with a quality art style and a bit of a twist — it’s set in a circus, and as an angry elephant, you’re charged with taking down annoying monkeys. The trouble is, the monkeys are riding on Ferris wheels and using trampolines, presenting an interesting challenge.

Your elephants will shoot peanuts and various other kinds of pellets at the monkeys, working to knock over towers and structures to take them out. HUPA-HUPA! includes dozens of levels to work through with lots of different elements, and it’ll keep you busy for a while.
