Fresh iPhone Games for Mar. 30: Mike Tyson – Main Event, Doodle Jump update, Trenches Free for All

It’s a day of free new games. Up front, we’ve got an iOS version of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System game Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!, which is ad-supported and free; an update for Doodle Jump that lets you race against other players; and a free, ad-supported, full version of the 2D strategy game Trenches. Get downloading, because it won’t cost you anything and these are some games you’ll want on your iDevice.

Mike Tyson – Main Event (iPhone, iPad) Free

Remember Mike Tyson’s Punch Out! from the late 1980s? The Nintendo Entertainment System game featured a little up-and-coming boxer fighting his way up to battling the champ and has become a monument of the video game world. Now the quest to take down Tyson is back on iOS, putting you in the boxing ring to take on fighters on the road to the championship.

You’ll play through 10 bouts in total, earning cash as you go to purchase new equipment, clothing and items that can help you win more fights. The game is ad-supported, which is the best part about the game — it’s free. Go download this one and get your nostalgia on.

Doodle Jump update (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Lots of people have realized the addictive potential of Doodle Jump — a vertical jumping in which players tilt their iOS devices left and right to continually bounce from one ledge to another in an attempt to get as high as possible without falling. Doodle Jump receives a lot of seasonal updates to keep its look fresh, but the gameplay is always the same: simple, easy and challenging.

A new update for Doodle Jump adds a whole new way to play the game. Take on your Game Center friends over a Wi-Fi connection and Doodle Jump becomes a race rather than a marathon, with the first person to jump, climb or bounce to the finish line high above is the winner. And it’s free to anyone who owns the app.

Trenches Free for All (iPhone, iPad) Free

It’s World War I, and as a battlefield commander, you’ve got to storm the German camp across the 2D battlefield on the right by gathering your troops and storming the trenches cut along the way. As you ready your rifleman, snipers and engineers to storm the German base, you’ll earn money to call more troops and upgrade your equipment and fight through various levels.

The Free for All is the exact same great game as the original version of Trenches. It packs the game’s multiplayer mode and all its levels — but this version of the game is ad-supported. And if the ad support bothers you, it’s only a buck to bump up to the premium version of Trenches.
