Fresh iPhone Games for Jan. 7: Max Adventure (update), Trundle (update), Ramps

Ever wish you could play an iPhone game on your TV? Dual-stick shooter Max Adventure can, thanks to a new update that turns your TV into your iPhone screen and your iPhone into a game controller. It’s the freshest of today’s Fresh Games, but we’ve also got a couple of other addicting games, including a new set of levels for Trundle, a game we consider among the iPhone’s finest.

Max Adventure update (iPhone) $0.99

Dual-stick shooter Max Adventure puts you into the role of a kid with a mission: blast aliens, save the world. You’ll tool around massive 3D levels and seek out hidden items and secrets, as well as shoot a whole lot of bad guys and rescue your friends. The game features different mission types and role-playing game elements, requiring you to gather money to purchase new weapons and abilities.

An extensive update to the game that just dropped has one very cool new feature: compatibility with an iPhone VGA cable, which allows you to plug your device into a TV monitor. The iPhone becomes the game’s controller and the TV shows you the action. It’s very cool and totally changes the feel of Max Adventure.

Trundle update (iPhone) Free/$1.99

Trundle is one of my favorite games on the iPhone. It incorporates an underplayed, silhouettes-at-dusk art style to portray its simple yet beautiful puzzle-platformer levels. Tilting your iPhone makes your character, a small gear, move across the side-scrolling levels, and tapping makes them jump. It’s an elegant, simple and clever game, the base unit of which is free but with in-app purchases for additional levels.

A brand-new update drops a new map pack into the game, which is available for a buck through in-app purchase. You can also buy both the available purchasable map packs, plus any future ones, for $1.99.

Ramps (iPhone) $2.99

This physics puzzler has you manipulating ramps in different puzzle levels to get a ball to a goal. It’s another of those simple, addictive casual puzzle games that’ll keep you busy with more than 100 levels to work through.

The game also includes 300 different challenges to complete as you work through its levels, and Game Center support to log your scores, rack up achievements and see where you stack-up on online leaderboards. There’s a lot of content here, so get comfortable — Ramps will keep you engaged for a long time.
