Fresh iPhone Games for Apr. 21: Sword & Sworcery EP Micro, Elemental Rage, Back to the Future Ep 2 HD

You might have heard the massive fuss about Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP all over the place earlier this month. Well, if you aren’t fortunate enough to own an iPad, you no longer need to in order to experience the audiovisual mystery and adventure found in the game. We’ve got all the info you’ll need below, along with a couple of other interesting games, including the next episode of Back to the Future if you do happen to own an iPad.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP Micro (iPhone) $2.99

The critically acclaimed artsy iPad game has finally made it to the iPhone, so all of us who haven’t been able to afford an iPad (here!) get to see what all the fuss is about. Sword & Sworcery is all about exploration and discovery, taking you adventuring through a world where the visual and audio style take the forefront.

Sword & Sworcery has its action, too, and you’ll rotate your iPhone to take on enemies with sword and shield when you’re attacked. You’ll also solve puzzles and investigate the land around you. The “Micro” version of the game is iPhone-only and half the price of the iPad version, but if you’d rather have the option to go bigger, the iPad version of the game is now universal.

Elemental Rage (iPhone) $4.99

You’ll explore a huge castle filled with enemies and things to discover in Elemental Rage, a 2D platformer in the great tradition of games like the Metroid series from Nintendo and Konami’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The further you fight and the more you explore, the more abilities you gain, which in turn open more sections of the castle.

Elemental Rage’s story has you fighting the dark sorcerer Devon, who is stealing the souls of all living things, and you’ll fight various monsters and solve puzzles while discovering secret passages and other hidden treasures along the way. Classic game fans will have a blast with Elemental Rage, which invokes some of the most beloved games of all time with its gameplay.

Back to the Future Ep 2 HD (iPad) $6.99

The second installment in Telltale Games’ episodic point-and-click adventure game, “Get Tannen” maintains all the great qualities of the first episode of Back to the Future and goes one better. The story of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett L. Brown continues as they travel back to an alternate 1986, finding that they’ve unknowingly made changes to the past.

Ep 2 includes about three hours of gameplay that advances the story forward and is filled with environmental puzzles to solve and characters to interact with. The game has awesome production values and great voice work, and tells a story created in collaboration with Bob Gale, one of the creators of the original Back to the Future trilogy.
