Fresh iPhone Apps for October 21: Angry Birds Halloween, Define, Wi-Fi Touchpad HD Free

Haven’t gotten in on the Angry Birds bandwagon yet? You get another chance in today’s Fresh Apps, which features Angry Birds Halloween, a Halloween-themed special edition. Read about it and some other cool new apps below.

Angry Birds Halloween (iPhone) $0.99

Although this version of the popular puzzle game Angry Birds isn’t functionally different from the original, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out. Angry Birds Halloween is a themed, special edition version of the game. If you haven’t had a chance to play Angry Birds yet, you might want to snag this one with its cool Halloween visuals, rather than the original version.

Angry Birds Halloween updates the game with some All Hallows Eve imagery, and it still includes 45 levels of bird-slingshotting fun. Unless you’re a big fan of Halloween, it’s not really worth buying this version of Angry Birds if you already own the original, but if you haven’t had the opportinity to try that yet, here’s another chance.

Define (iPhone) Free

At first I thought this was just another dictionary app that finds definitions of words quickly, but it turns out Define is a lot more than that.

The key thing is that the app doesn’t just look through a dictionary to define the term you plugged in, it scans Google to compile a working definition. Suddenly, you’re free from the usual limitation that whatever you entered must be a real, recognized English word. Thankfully, Define will work on your behalf to define just about anything.

Wi-Fi Touchpad HD Free (iPad) Free

Like AirMouse, one of the cooler iPhone apps available, Wi-Fi Touchpad allows you to turn a mobile device into something else. In this case, Wi-Fi Touchpad connects your iPad to another computer using your local Wi-Fi network and turns the iPad’s touch screen into a mouse touchpad or wireless keyboard.

The app requires you to download a program for the computer you want to control remotely, but the free version seems to be pretty respectably decked out. There’s also a full version that supports additional features like Chinese handwriting recognition.
