Fresh iPhone Apps for October 20: Giana Sisters FREE, VIVmag, AionExchange, Gluten Free Kitchen

Gamers can take a bite out of a $5 Super Mario-like platformer with a free sample in today’s Fresh iPhone apps, and Aion players will find an app that makes keeping track of items they’re buying and selling in the online game a lot easier. Check out these and more below.

Giana Sisters FREE (iPhone) Free

It might be the lite version of Giana Sisters, which costs $4.99, but Giana Sisters FREE is no slouch as far as game demos are concerned. It still packs nine decent levels (the full game has more than 100) and is a fun platformer in the vein of Super Mario Bros. that provides some fun despite being a little short. But it’s free and it’s a graphically beautiful game, so if you like it, you can always pay for the full version.

VIVmag (iPad) Free

VIVmag is the dedicated app for VIVmag an online-only women’s magazine that covers a variety of topics, ranging from news and advocacy to beauty and health. The app makes some content available for free from the magazine’s website, with the full magazine available to subscribers.

The app includes a lot of cool additional features that print magazines don’t include – like interactive quizzes – and some of those are available for free in the limited version of the magazine as well. Sounds like this app is a great way for potential readers to get acquainted with VIVmag without obligation.

AionExchange (iPhone) $1.99

With this app, players of the massively multiplayer online game Aion can keep up with the game even when they’re unable to play. It contains quick reference information about your in-game characters, which is cool, although not necessarily handy for dedicated players.

What’s cool about AionExchange, however, is the ability to keep up with auctions taking place in the game, track items you’re selling, and search for the prices of items and equipment you need without having to fire-up the full game. Keeping track of commerce in Aion just got a lot easier.

Gluten Free Kitchen With Jacqueline Mallorca (iPhone) $4.99

It’s pretty self-explanatory: Gluten Free Kitchen includes a bunch of gluten-free recipes. What’s somewhat striking is that for $5, the app includes 24 recipes, and most of them sound pretty good.

The app covers a variety of bases, from pancakes to minestrone, and all the recipes are meant to provide a healthy alternative to standard foods with gluten. Developer Caloricious also may also add an additional 12 recipes if they get good feedback from users, so go write a review after you download this one.
