Fresh iPhone Apps for May 5: HBO Go, Famebooth, Thank You Pen

Seems like every week, new apps that let you stream video for free to your iOS device are hitting the iTunes App Store. The newest is HBO Go, an app that lets users who subscribe to HBO stream content to their devices for no additional charge. Get the skinny below, and read up about a couple of other handy apps that’ll get you ready for Mother’s Day or just to have fun.

HBO Go (iPhone, iPad) Free

Can’t live without your fix of Trueblood, Game of Thrones and other HBO shows? Snag HBO Go if you’re already an HBO subscriber, and you can unlock content to stream to your iOS devices over the Internet. You only need to set up an account and make sure your cable provider supports the app.

You can create a watch list to customize your experience with HBO Go, and the app will automatically load in the episodes of shows you designate. You can watch programming anywhere you get a 3G connection, or use a Wi-Fi connection to avoid charging your data plan.

Famebooth (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Create realistic-looking red carpet photos with Famebooth. It lets you take your own photos using your iPhone or iPad and replace the backgrounds to make them look like they were snapped by paparazzi or entertainment photographers. You can edit the photos within the app to get the effect you’re looking for as well.

Type up a customized letter or card in Thank You Pen and you can send it out to the recipient of your choice. The service is free to use and runs between $3.95 and $6.95 to send, and you get to choose the stationary, a gift card and address it using your phone’s contacts list.
