Fresh iPhone Apps for Mar. 3: Skyfire update, Discovery Channel HD, Opinionaided

Flash-playing web browser Skyfire just got a big update to increase its social networking capabilities, making it an even more viable alternative to Safari for many users. Get a look at it, and a couple of other cool apps, including Discovery Channel HD and crowdsource-advice app Opinionaided, in today’s Fresh Apps list.

Skyfire Web Browser update (iPhone, iPad) $2.99

Steve Jobs doesn’t like Flash for iOS devices, but that doesn’t mean you have to agree with him. Enter Skyfire, a downloadable web browser that integrates Flash videos for thousands of websites, as well as social networking integration with Facebook and Twitter. It doesn’t support everything in Flash — some things are a bit prohibitive for iOS devices — but Skyfire is the best way to view a huge portion of the web on the go.

Skyfire’s big 3.0 update comes down today and adds even more social networking capabilities to the app. Now every web page integrates Facebook’s “Like” button, allowing users to share what they’re viewing with their friends with a single click. You can also quickly see what friends are reading and recommending and view links posted by friends on Facebook.

Discovery Channel HD (iPad) Free

Get connected to all your favorite Discovery Channel shows with Discovery Channel HD, an app that gets you news, information and video from the network. It also has a complete set of local listings, so you can find out when the best shows are on so you never miss any.

Discovery Channel HD includes clips and photos from the channel’s programming, as well as backstories and information about the casts of each. It also features Facebook and Twitter connectivity to broadcast what you’re watching, allows you to chat with Discovery Channel cast members, and pipes in up-to-date stories from Discovery News.

Opinionaided (iPhone, iPad) Free

Need some advice on a purchase or what to wear? Ask Opinionaided, a social networking community designed to vote on questions and produce a crowdsourced answer to individual user’s quick advice. Just put a question into the app and wait for responses from your peers.

Opinionaided also lets you interact on the other side of the equation, offering advice as comments and to other people in the community who could use a hand. It now makes use of Push notifications and allows for pictures to be added to questions.
