Fresh iPhone Apps for Mar. 17: Etsy Lovers, Instapaper update, Find-U

Today’s Fresh Apps list leads off with Etsy Lovers, an app that lets you browse the popular craft website and make purchases straight from your iDevice. There’s also a big update to the critically acclaimed Instapaper, an app that lets you save articles to read them later, and the safety and socially conscious find-U, which uses GPS to track your location and let you keep track of the locations of friends and family. We’ve got all the dirt below.

Etsy Lovers (iPhone, iPad) $0.99

Browse the craft sales site Etsy with Etsy Lovers, an app designed to create a mobile version the experience of Etsy.com. For those unfamiliar, the site allows people who make things like jewelery, clothing and a host of other items to sell them to other users, kind of like an eBay for artisans.

Much like the Etsy website, you can use Etsy Lovers to comb through listings by category, location, price, material and color. You can also save and browse through “Favorite” items, share items on Twitter and Facebook, and create wishlists and share them with others.

Instapaper update (iPhone, iPad) $4.99

Often hailed as one of the best apps in the iTunes App Store is Instapaper, which allows you to sync your iDevice with the articles you’ve been reading on your computer. The app downloads your synced articles when you connect to the Internet, so you can read anything you missed or didn’t have time for while you’re doing other things, like waiting for an appointment.

A new update to Instapaper increases the app’s social capabilities. You can now share articles on a number of social networks, including Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and others. You can also see friends linked articles and save new articles from Mobile Safari to Instapaper to read later.

find-U (iPhone, iPad) $2.99

Locate and meet up with your friends and family with find-U, an app that uses the iPhone’s GPS capabilities to track people’s locations. Pop open find-U and you can see your group’s locations on a Google map, and the app will provide you with turn-by-turn directions to allow you to meet up with them.

find-U will run in the background, providing your GPS information to your other group members to allow you to keep track of each other. The idea is that you can quickly find family members to help keep them safe, meet up with friends, or coordinate with employees and co-workers. You can also switch on and off your location tracking in case you want to keep your information private.
