Fresh iPhone Apps for Jan. 26: Zik-Tok – My Personal Radio, Magic Measure, IRS2Go

Today’s Fresh Apps list is headed by Zik-Tok, an app designed to funnel all your daily information into one handy place, and then read it to you — allowing you to keep your hands free to do anything else, like drive. We’ve got all the details on it below (it’s free), along with a couple of other apps worth your attention.

Zik-Tok – My Personal Radio (iPhone) Free

Perfect for in your car or when you’re not able to divide your attention to read, Zik-Tok reads information to you, aggregating everything you want to know on a daily basis into one place, then dictating it to you so you can focus on other things.

The app includes six different channels: news, local weather, traffic, stocks, Twitter and personal info, and lets you customize the voice that reads you the information. You can also program other information, like reminders for birthdays and events, into the app and let it keep track of it for you, automatically. Zik-Tok uses several different sources of information — including your iPhone’s GPS technology and several news outlets — to make sure you get everything you need in your daily reports, every time you start it up.

Magic Measure (iPhone) $0.99

Using your iPhone’s GPS technology, Magic Measure allows you to measure the distance between two points, without the use of a measuring tape, survey gear, or any other manual means of determining how far a distance is. By hitting a button, the app tracks the distance as you travel and saves it for you for later.

You can save as many unique paths as you need into the app as you go, and then email them when you’re finished to whoever might need them. You can also set the app to drop markers as you go in order to monitor your path and keep track of the distance for you.

IRS2Go (iPhone, iPad) Free

As tax season approaches, there’s one question that is bound to be on the minds of everyone: how long until my tax return gets here? IRS2Go answers that question by letting you track your refund using your mobile phone, and also helps you out with some information about your taxes in general.

IRS2Go provides you with useful tax tips, which you can sign-up to receive. They’ll help you get more money back and your taxes filed faster. You can also use the app to tie into the IRS Twitter feed, which can give you even more information about tax season and make your dealings with your taxes even easier.
